Caution If You Dare Do It In Public

In Dubai, a popular tourist destination for Britains, a couple have been charged, and sentenced to 3 months in jail for having sex on a public beach according to Yahoo news.

I read the article however, and to my surprise, they were in fact not charged for having sex, but for kissing, etc (which is deemed an indecent act in public in Dubai.)

Dubai is a Muslim region, and according to their laws, it is illegal to perform "indecent acts" such as making out in public. The act of sex out of wedlock is against their laws entirely - in, and out of public.

Whether or not the couple actually had sex is inconclusive.

Reportedly, one of them admitted to having sex on the beach, but then later changed their story. The couple had been drinking heavily apparently.

If this couple had been charged for sex out of wedlock the sentence could have been up to 1 year in prison, plus 3 months for the indecent act.

Their sentence was thought to be light, and there is a chance that both parties in this legal matter may appeal.

What a way to pop your holiday bubble!

One of the first trips that my husband, and I made together was to an exotic place where we did make love on a beach. It was 5 o'clock in the morning, the sun was rising, and no one could be found.

It was just the two of us, the sound of the waves crashing in, sand against our skin, and the smell of the ocean.

We had been staying at a resort, nearly all of the people that were there stayed up extremely late to drink, and party each night.

So, the resort was close to vacant in the early mornings.

The thought had never, in a million years crossed my husband's, or my mind that we might get arrested, or thrown in jail for our little act of love. Now knowing what this couple went through (not that I have sex on public beaches often - I barely make it out of my pajamas, let alone my house now that I'm a Mom of 3), but I am inclined to in future proceed with extreme caution when visiting other countries.

If you're going any where with your partner, it is well advised to look into some of their countries laws, and regulations before you have sex in public, do anything that might be deemed "indecent," or do anything at all - because you never know.

Sex News: Natural Viagra

Look out billion dollar pharmaceutical companies, look out Viagra share holders, here comes the Chinese herbal remedy called Horny Goat weed!

I am not kidding. What a name, and it may be no joke.

It is also referred to as Epimedium, Barrenwort, Bishop's Hat, Fairy Wings, or Yin Yang Huo.

I read on Yahoo News (see article here) that Horny Goat weed is a promising alternative to Viagra for impotent men according to Italian researchers.

For centuries this natural herb has been known to be a natural aphrodisiac. And, according to Mario Dell'Agli, a researcher at the University of Milan it "could lead to new drugs to help men get erections."

He continued: "This could be the natural Viagra," he said in a telephone interview. "The novelty is that we have synthesized a new molecule that one day may be able to replace Viagra."

Erectile dysfunction is a common condition worldwide, and while there are drugs that can help this condition by increasing blood flow to the genitals, Horny Goat weed is a promising natural remedy that may not be as intrusive for those who are aiming to take a more natural, lower risk approach.

Many of the medicines that are on the market can have serious side effects ranging from headaches, upset stomach, and visual problems including blindness.

I found an article by the FDA here about cases where Viagra (also known as Sidenafil or sidenafil citrate) which has even caused people to have a decrease in their ability to hear.

The Italian researchers therefore looked for alternatives by studying a number of plants reputed to boost sexual performance.

Upon studying Horny Goat weed specifically, researchers began to modify a compound in the plant called icariin, finding that it blocked the erection-inhibiting enzyme as well as Viagra.

According to Dell'Agli, since it targets the enzyme so precisely, it may have fewer side effects than Viagra.

Further testing is needed of course, but for now Horny Goat weed will remain a likely, and promising natural remedy for erectile dysfunction that has fewer side effects.

After these recent laboratory studies, and those that will no doubt proceed, it will be a good solution for many individuals with erectile dysfunction, and poor libidos.

The original article can be found here. (Reporting by Michael Kahn; Editing by Maggie Fox and Elizabeth Piper)

I wonder if this Horny Goat weed will work for women too? Hmmmm...

I checked, and it seems that it's presence is all over the place on the internet. It looks like Horny Goat weed is coming in pills, and bottles of all different colours, shapes, and sizes for men, and for women.

I wonder if it works? Anyone tried it?

Promiscuity Is More Than A Broken Promise

While watching TV last night with my husband, I caught a glimpse of how aware we should all be. There was a documentary about sex, and disease. It was capturing the lives of many individuals who are affected by HIV and AIDS in South Africa.

I learnt many things that I did not know. I learnt that for many families in South Africa, the husbands have to travel really far for work. Often going a great distance to work in a mine, or on a farm for a year at a time before returning home to their family.

During such time, they are promiscuous. It's seemingly expected of them by their spouses because they are gone for so long.

In these mines, many of the women who have unprotected sex with these men have sex with many of them.

Therefore, allowing HIV and AIDS to spread, and be given back to the men's wifes as they return home.

When asked about whether they have safe sex with their husbands upon their return, one wife said that she couldn't possibly do that, because it was her own husband.

This got me to thinking that even in our society, promiscuity, or cheating should be a topic that we all talk about with our partners, just like having the "birds and the bees" talk with our kids.

Did you know that 1.2 Million people in North America have HIV or AIDS?

Promiscuity is more today than breaking a commitment - it's potentially getting a life threatening disease, and spreading it to those you love.

HIV and AIDS is having such a great impact on South Africa, and the world. It's something that has the power to affect us all.

In 2007, in North America alone, there were 54, 000 more people disgnosed with HIV or AIDS.

As a mature couple, I believe that we should all be aware that cheating does happen, sometimes even to those who don't expect it. We should be aware that HIV and AIDS is real, that we are all at risk, and that we should all be responsible in taking the time to talk to our spouses about this matter.

In 2007, in North America alone, 23, 000 people died because of HIV or AIDS.

My husband, and I have had a talk about sex and disease; actually at the beginning of our relationship. We not only made a promise to be faithful to each other because we are committing to each other for the rest of our lives, but we also made a promise to never put each other's lives at risk by being promiscuous.

If you are cheating on your partner, and I am not condoning this, but if you are, you have to get checked for STD's, and the person you are having sex with has to as well. You owe it to your partner, and to your family.

Even if you are not cheating, and you think that your partner is not, you should have this talk. It's important.

Holiday Devoted to Sex?

“What will they think of next?” - Is the first thing that came to my mind after reading Yahoo news today, and "What is the world coming to?"

As exciting as it sounds, having a National holiday devoted to sex might not be such a hot idea after all.

A Vancouver student has launched an Internet campaign using Facebook, and called the event “National Sex Day 2008.”

Jonathan Yaniv, a computer science student at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey, B.C., wants to make August 21st, 2008 the first unofficial sex holiday.

The 21-year-old is trying to get at least one million Canadians to join the event, and if he's successful, it will likely be the biggest organized sex event in history.

Over 130,000 people on Facebook have already joined, and I’m sure that all of the publicity that this is getting, is only going to help to increase that number.

"I thought a special day, just for this type of activity, (would) be the best," said Yaniv to Yahoo News.

He has been preparing his guests by promoting safer sex, and at least, he is helping to promote a safe holiday by sending out free condoms to those who are requesting them.

Originally, March 21 had been chosen for this special day of sexual festivities, but it didn't go over well with Christians - not surprisingly, because it was Good Friday.

Vancouver sexologist Dr. Pega Ren thinks the idea is long overdue, and wants more Canadians to participate, saying that "people should call in well rather than call in sick (that day)," she said to Yahoo News.

Ren said a day devoted to sex and sexual well-being is important because it "de-emphasizes hatred and promotes kindness, loving and sexuality."

She also said that if Canadians don't get the day off, they should "at least get a long lunch."

I'm not sure how many paying employers are going to like this idea.

And, I don’t think that the parents of teenagers, or parents - period are going to be as equally enthusiastic.

For many youngsters, it is only an excuse to become sexually active, and perhaps not for the right reasons.

I know that I would not want all the hype of this day to affect the moral stand point of my teenager, nor would I want for people in general to be careless, and reckless when there can be so much at stake.

Mike Haymes, spokesman for sexualityandu.ca, reminds participants to make smart decisions about sex and sexual health.

Sexualityandu.ca, which is run by the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, provides Canadians of all ages with online resources to lead a healthy sex life.

The Guinness World Records decided not to keep track of the online effort to create such a monumental day.

"We try to stay away from explicit types of records," Guinness said, citing responsibility to younger readers.

Without a doubt, lots of people are going to want to get busy on August 21st, let’s just hope that they are doing it not only because of the dare I say "National Sex Day", but because they are prepared, mature, and responsible adults who are in love as well.
Sincerely,
xoxo
